About the role

You’ll own the backend work behind custom Shopify experiences. That includes apps, checkout functionality and integrations that move data between Shopify and other systems.

This role is focused on application logic and reliability. You’ll work with our full-stack developers and strategists to establish what Shopify supports, choose an implementation and verify that it works through the complete customer flow.

What you’ll do

  • Build Shopify apps and backend services, using the platform’s APIs and extension points.
  • Develop checkout-related functionality within the capabilities available to the merchant.
  • Implement integrations, authentication and webhooks with clear handling of retries, duplicate events and failures.
  • Model and store the data an integration needs, with appropriate access controls and validation.
  • Test end-to-end flows and investigate issues using logs and reproducible cases.
  • Document setup and technical constraints so other developers can maintain the work.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience shipping and maintaining Shopify apps or backend integrations. Around five years of relevant development experience is recommended.
  • Strong backend JavaScript or TypeScript, Shopify GraphQL APIs, authentication, webhooks and database fundamentals.
  • You can identify API, permission and checkout-extension constraints before committing to an implementation.
  • You can explain how your integration handles failed requests and duplicate events, protect credentials and diagnose a production issue.

This is a full-time remote role. Singapore-hour overlap is not required.
